Give Back

Donate to Rocky Point causes

Puerto Peñasco's biggest heart belongs to the locals and volunteers who care for kids and animals year-round. If your trip moved you, here are two organizations worth supporting.

Children & Family

Esperanza Para Niños Children's Home

A safe, loving home for at-risk children in Puerto Peñasco.

Esperanza Para Niños ("Hope for Children") is a long-running children's home in Puerto Peñasco that provides housing, schooling, meals, and family-style care for kids who have been removed from unsafe environments or whose families cannot care for them. The home is run by a small full-time staff and supported almost entirely by donations from visitors and seasonal residents.

Donations of any size help cover groceries, school supplies, clothing, medical and dental care, and home maintenance. Visiting groups are also welcome — many travelers drop off non-perishable food, hygiene items, or new children's clothing on their way through town.

Most needed

Non-perishable food, diapers, hygiene products, school supplies, new clothing & shoes, and monetary donations for utilities and medical care.

How to give

Drop-off visits can be arranged in advance. Cash donations in USD or pesos are accepted on-site. Ask at most Sandy Beach resorts or local churches for current contact details, as phone numbers and coordinators change seasonally.

Note: Esperanza Para Niños is a local Mexican organization. Confirm current drop-off hours and contact info before visiting, and never bring children gifts or visit without prior approval from the home's coordinator.

Animal Rescue

Barb's Dogs

Feeding, fixing, and rehoming street dogs in Puerto Peñasco.

Barb's Dogs is a grassroots rescue effort started by Barb, a longtime Rocky Point resident who has spent years feeding, trapping, spaying/neutering, and rehoming the town's free-roaming dogs. With a small network of volunteers and fosters on both sides of the border, the rescue places dogs into permanent homes throughout Arizona and the broader U.S.

Like most Puerto Peñasco rescues, Barb's Dogs runs on donations, transport volunteers, and word of mouth. Even small contributions go directly to vet bills, food, and spay/neuter clinics that prevent the next generation of street puppies.

Most needed

Vet-bill donations, dry & wet dog food, crates, leashes, collars, and volunteer transport drivers heading north across the border.

How to help

Follow Barb's Dogs on Facebook for current adoptable dogs, transport runs, and donation links (PayPal/Venmo). If you're driving home to Arizona with empty seats, message ahead — a "flight parent" run can save a life that week.

Tip: Adopting a Rocky Point rescue is one of the most meaningful souvenirs you can bring home. All dogs are vetted, vaccinated, and ready to travel before placement.

A note on giving in Puerto Peñasco

Many of the most effective causes in Rocky Point are small, volunteer-run, and don't have polished websites or U.S. tax receipts. That doesn't make them less real — it just means a personal connection (visiting, dropping off supplies, or sending a Venmo) usually goes further than a faceless online donation.

If you'd like recommendations for other local causes — schools, food pantries, or beach-cleanup groups — please get in touch and we'll point you to current contacts.
